Professions in Our Community



Many different people work in our community. The butcher sells meat and sausages in his shop. People go there to buy fresh meat for dinner. The baker makes bread, rolls, pretzels, and croissants. Every morning, she wakes up early to bake fresh bread.

In offices, the typist works with typewriters or computers. They type letters and important documents quickly. The footballer plays in a team with strikers, midfielders, and defenders. They try to score goals during matches.

Some jobs are more difficult. The miner works under the ground to find oil and coal. It's a dangerous job. The milkman delivers fresh milk to people's houses early in the morning.

In the health field, the chemist works with tablets, pills, capsules, and medicine. They make up prescriptions for sick people. The doctor works in a hospital, has a diploma, and writes prescriptions for patients. The nurse is the doctor's assistant who cares for sick people in the hospital.

Creative professions are also important. The pianist plays the piano, while other musicians play the violin, trumpet, flute, or drums. The artist creates beautiful work like Picasso did with painting and sculpture. The architect plans and designs houses using rulers and other tools.

In shops, the greengrocer sells fruits and vegetables. When your car breaks down, the mechanic repairs vehicles using tools like screwdrivers. In the countryside, the farmer grows plants and raises animals.

The postman delivers mail and postcards to our homes. The driver might drive a bus, truck, or work as a chauffeur. The fireman helps when there's a fire and saves people and animals. Finally, the teacher works with students and pupils to help them learn new things.
